The canvas, toolbar, and basic operations

Once you are comfortable with how the canvas pans, zooms, and handles selection, almost everything in NuromBoard gets faster. The basics below are ordered by how often you will use them day to day.

Common operations

  1. 1
    Pan the canvas

Drag with the middle mouse button or with the space bar held down, or use a trackpad gesture to move the viewport.

  2. 2
    Zoom the view

Adjust the view with the toolbar zoom controls or a trackpad gesture. The content itself does not change size.

  3. 3
    Select and edit elements

Click an element to move it, resize it, or change its text and style. Press Esc to leave the current tool or clear the selection.

  4. 4
    Connect elements

Drag a connector out from an element's connection point. A snap hint appears as you approach the target element; release to create the relationship.

Keep the canvas readable

Divide the canvas by content first, then use color as a supporting cue — never let color replace structure. For complex plans, use headings, grouping, and connectors to create a clear reading path.

FAQ

Does canvas zoom affect export size?

No. Zoom only affects your current viewport; exports are generated from the canvas content itself.

How do I quickly exit the tool I am using?

You can usually press Esc to return to the selection state. Some continuous drawing tools stay active so you can keep creating multiple elements.
